The monster effect of "Battlin' Boxer Veil" is a Trigger Effect that activates in the hand. (It does not target.)
This effect can be activated optionally after damage calculation when you take battle damage.
As long as it is after damage calculation when you have taken battle damage, you can activate this effect whether the battle damage was taken from a direct attack by an opponent's monster or from a battle between monsters.
The process of "Special Summon this card from your hand" and the process of "gain LP equal to the damage you took" are treated as occurring simultaneously.
Even if you have multiple copies of "Battlin' Boxer Veil" in your hand, you can only activate the monster effect of one of them after a single instance of damage calculation.
