The monster effect of "Knight of the Sands" is a Trigger Effect that must be activated when it is flipped face-up. (It also activates during the Damage Step.)
This effect does not target.
When resolving the effect, choose 1 EARTH monster from your Deck and send it to the Graveyard.
Even if there are no EARTH monsters in your Deck, the effect must still be activated if "Knight of the Sands" is flipped face-up. (Since there is no monster to send to the Graveyard, the effect is not applied.)
