You can only use the effect of "Mermail Abyssocea" once per turn.

You cannot target Xyz or Link Monsters, as they do not have a Level.
The process of "Special Summon any number of Level 4 or lower 'Mermail' monsters from your Deck whose total Levels are less than or equal to the selected monster's Level" and the process of "then send the selected monster to the Graveyard" are not considered to happen simultaneously.
